Was bought as a gift for Christmas. The person it was bought for loves it. Great quality and great sound.
Kicker iK501 Digital Stereo System for iPhone and iPod (Black)I got this system for Christmas 2008. The highs are sweet, crisp and never painful. My best friend and I have AB'd the Kicker with his B__e. This system by Kicker was a sure shot from the get go. I'm sold and so is my buddy :). I can turn up the volume very loud without any distortion whatsoever. I love a punchy but clean bass from my music. This is the best system I have yet to hear.
It fills the entire house with some very gr8 sounds. The bass is mighty and always clean. The Kicker won, hands down. I agree with another review I read, it does "look like a pissed off Darth Vader".Thanks Kicker.
This box puts out enough good volume and bass to fill a large room, not a house. Basically I believe it to be the best bang for the buck. I got this as a gift for my daughter and her husband after a couple hours reading reviews here. I only listened for 5 minutes, but definitely liked what I heard, and I'm a discriminating listener, a singer, songwriter, guitarist. Spend more and you might get more, as usual. But I wanted something for around $150. You'll be hard pressed to do better in the under $200 price range, trust me.BTW, my daughter and her hubby love it. It is now their primary stereo.
Yes, this thing gets loud. With that said, they should have made a built in carrier for the remote. So, I put it in the middle of my living room and thankfully, it woke up. On my kitchen countertop, in the corner, there wasn't that much bass. I've been reading so much hype about this unit and finally bought it. The construction is fine and handle on the back is a nice touch. So, if you lose your remote, you're screwed. The included remote controls everything on the ipod (plus volume).
The LCD display does not display your ipod menu either, just so you know. I did buy this for outdoor use specifically, so I think I'll be very very happy. Honestly, I was a little disappointed in the sound clarity, but it's still a great purchase. I think I'll use velcro to attach mine to the unit. Volume goes to 40, I didn't go past 20 and that was LOUD. Just wish the mids and highs were cleaner and tighter. One thing you should know, the knob on the unit only controls volume, treble, bass, and switches you to auxillary. It only displays vol/treb/bass/aux.Everything else is great. Very pleased, but glad I didn't pay more than I did.
I originally bought this to use for my wife's birthday celebration in a large hall. I replaced my teacher-issued speakers with the Kicker and my students were awed by the tremendous sound improvement. The unit is a little large, but this is necessary to house all the drivers. Due to the design which includes five individual drivers, this unit produces clear sound without any rattling bass vibration or scratchy treble sounds at high volume. C. After the party I found another great application for this unit. It worked perfectly with my ipod, and the remote functioned flawlessly. Now my students can fully understand what they're hearing, and they are much more engaged in the lessons.
I'm a public school teacher and due to the cheap standard equipment issued to staff members, I've had difficulty implementig multi-media lessons and films. In fact I stopped using multi-media related lessons because my students just couldn't understand what they were hearing. As long as you don't need a battery powered unit, the Kicker is a great choice. Lemak-Torres
